The Good Ol’ Boys of Hazzard County

January 26, 1979 – The Dukes of Hazzard premiers on CBS.  For seven fun-filled seasons, America enjoyed the trials and tribulations of cousins Bo and Luke Duke, their pretty cousin Daisy, and wise old uncle Jesse who foil the corrupt schemes of Boss Hoggs.  Another star of the show was the orange 1969 Dodge Charger “The General Lee”, complete with Confederate flag, used in numerous chases and stunts.  Like all 1970s sitcoms, the show always had a moral, even if it meant the cousins helping their enemies — but only to do the right thing.  The show also helped make CB radios extremely popular and gave birth to the high cut jeans of cousin Daisy knows as “Daisy Dukes”.  The show helped make ‘southern’ cool and the adventures of the Duke family, the stunts, and the car chases were sure to please.
